If you want to lose weight, you have to restrict your calories to some degree. There is no way around this basic fact.

But there is a catch here. You see, every time you restrict calories, you set yourself up for decreased immunity. And this in turn sets you up for a higher percentage of sick days.

So, without further ado, here are 5 tips for preventing your immune system from tanking when you are burning body fat:

1. Wash frequently: Although simple, this strategy is very effective. And this becomes super important if you exercise regularly. You see, when you don’t wash a large quantity of germs accumulates on your extremities. Then your immune system has to work hard to fight off these germs.

2. Don’t drink unclean water: Doing so increases the amount of germs your body has to deal with just like when you don’t wash your hands frequently. And keep in mind that good water filters are very inexpensive these days. So give your body a break and start drinking filtered water.

3. Load up on anti oxidants: And keep in mind that whole foods are far superior to pills here. So make sure you have a wide variety (don’t focus on super foods) of flavonoid rich foods. You see, foods interact with each other in ways that we currently do not understand.

4. Tap into your social network: Doing so will increase your immunity because social ties are critical for remaining psychologically healthy. Unfortunately, many people simply let their social ties slowly die off. Make sure you avoid this at all costs.

5. Mitigate stressful situations: It’s impossible to eliminate all stress, but you can learn how to manage the stress that has a negative impact on you. The key here is to experiment with many different modalities and then sticking with the one that suits you best.
