    I’M IN COLLEGE …
I’M IN COLLEGE DOING A NUTRITION DEGREE & yes it is just reading books, over and over and over, and then doing exams. Theres nothing else

  2. BonitaApplebaum18 says:

    NO is not just …
NO is not just reading books , clearly you haven’t been to college. There are other aspect of getting an college degree than just reading books.
PS I believe that they’re contributing to weight loss industry , where they just rob from people who have great difficulties in losing weight and their services is non better that having a QUALIFIED NUTRITIONIST AND THERAPIST
    IN FACT ACTUALLY BETTER . I KNOW IT’S A RECESSION BUT C’MON .

  3. ByeByeBelly says:

I had no idea Jason …
I had no idea Jason had lost THAT much weight til I looked at the main page of the site

  4. ByeByeBelly says:

    Getting a degree in …
Getting a degree in nutrition IS just reading books. lol

  5. ByeByeBelly says:

    I can’t see anyone …
I can’t see anyone claiming to be a nutritionist on the site anyway, it just says they provide consulting & things of that nature based on what they have personally learned. I’m doing a nutrition degree but shanti & jason probably know more than I do right now. I think it’s great that they are starting this business, making money from what they love & are passionate about is the best way to live! I wish I had a friend to do this kinda stuff with

    In Australia, …
In Australia, anyone can call themself a nutritionist without any kind of education. Same goes with counsellor, naturopath, herbalist, homoepath etc etc. The only things registered here are dietetics or traditional chinese medicine. I’m doing a dual degree in nutrition/naturopathy, but in my country anyone can call themselves those things and start a clinic. It freakin sucks.

  7. xodorianleexo says:

    Wow, some of these …
Wow, some of these comments are bizarre to me. People write books about their weight loss experiences all the time and you pay for it, yet you want to make it look like these two people need degrees and licenses to create a web site for it? Seriously? Plus, having a license doesn’t necessarily mean you are more capable of GIVING ADVICE AND TAKING A PERSONAL APPROACH to your clients! These two are doing a great thing, and thats that.

    I’ve got to agree …
I’ve got to agree with the other person, the way your website is presented seems a bit deceptive. Maybe you should explicitly state that you aren’t certified counselors or nutritionists – just so that there isn’t confusion.

Good for you guys. I am an entrepreneur too, and I hope this is successful!! I’ve often thought about doing something like this one day too. Good luck to you both!

    Hi. You say, “they …
Hi. You say, “they come to us for advice, guidance, an ear to listen to and bounce ideas off of, and for emotional support. No one needs a license to offer that service.”

If that’s the case, why is your web site set up to look like a professional diet corporation? You even state that one of your servcices is ‘nutritional consulting.’

Your idea is great, but a bit deceiving. Be very careful. (Perhaps a disclaimer on your web site….?)

  12. antishay says:

    Jason and I are …
Jason and I are both not nutritionists or dietitians, nor do we claim to be. Given that, the clients who work with us are under the understanding before working with us that we are not professionals. They come to us for advice, guidance, an ear to listen to and bounce ideas off of, and for emotional support. No one needs a license to offer that service.

I hope I’ve clarified enough at this point.

  13. antishay says:

    In addition, anyone …
In addition, anyone can get AANC certification, nutritional license or not. It means nothing but that you’ve paid the money to have a certificate – which basically states that you’re committed to excellence and honesty. It’s the weight-loss “do no harm” agreement, in essence. Anyone is allowed to give mentorship without getting that certification.

  14. antishay says:

    That is untrue. The …
That is untrue. The US and CA laws state:

    1. it is illegal to claim to be a nutritionist or dietician without a license
    2. it is illegal for someone giving nutritional advice to diagnose illnesses, or problems, or to give out prescription unless they are also an MD
    3. it is illegal to falsify a license

It is not illegal to be a sounding board, coach, and mentor to someone losing weight who needs support and advice – or to charge for that service. We are well within the law.

  15. ChicagoErin20 says:

    FYI – it’s illegal …
FYI – it’s illegal to give nutrition/weight loss advice, especially charging money… without being a licensed nutritionist, dietitian etc.

    huh. Do either of …
huh. Do either of you guys have degrees in counseling or nutrition? Dieticians? You keep saying you are qualified to teach… do you have at least a masters? Research experience? Anatomy? Physiology?

you go Jason, youve come along way and i think you and shanti are both teaching not only from books and school but from personal expirience and in my opinion thats what clients need, someone who has been in their shoes and was able to succeed and manage.
